About
Tracey RissikHello and welcome – my name’s Tracey Rissik and I’m the founder and owner of “The Simple Web Company”. My passion in my business life is to help SME’s and sole traders who want an on-line presence but have no idea where to start! I put the “simple” into on-line branding by discussing your requirements in an initial website strategy session, then by providing easy to operate WordPress websites along with user instructions for clients like you, so you can get into the driving seat and keep your on-line ‘shop window’ up to date. I pride myself on providing good looking websites in a relatively short space of time, without the high costs often associated with bespoke designs.
My ideal clients are people running their own businesses, who on the whole prefer to remain non-technical and who might be overwhelmed by the internet, websites etc. I also enjoy running workshops and seminars for “terrified technophobes” and creating online resources to help people like you get the most out of your websites. In fact feedback from my clients frequently includes the phrase “you’ve taken the terror out of technology” to the point where they’re comfortable handling the day to day running of their websites themselves. For those who don’t want to do the “techie stuff”, I provide ongoing support too. I firmly believe great customer service comes from “Doing what I said I would do, when I said I would do it, in the way I said I would do it”, and integrity and honesty along with a desire to over-deliver on value has helped me build a community of delighted clients over the years.
These are ethics I’ve adhered to all my business life – right from when I was living in South Africa over 15 years ago and working in IT, first as a Programmer and then as a Systems Analyst, through my move to the UK as an Operations Manager in the telecommunications industry in 1997 and right up to the present moment.
When I started my own business in 2008, after being made redundant, I knew I wanted to use my Degree in Computer Science along with my technical skills to be of service. By incorporating all the knowledge I’d acquired over the years, and through my own personal development and networking I quickly built rapport with a number of small business owners in the coaching field, and realised there was a crying need out there for someone who could help clients like you define what you want your website to do to support your business, and come up with a simple but quality package.
Now, as well as building websites for my clients, I offer a holistic package which includes business coaching and mentoring. As an outlet for my strong belief in continuing self-development and growth, in 2011 I started a monthly business networking meeting called “Ladies Who Latte” in my area of London, which ran for over 3 years. I’ve also delivered talks on blogging to other similar organisations in central London and the SE. I love sharing my skills in this way and connecting with other like-minded individuals.
Keeping up to date with the latest trends in marketing on the internet, and on-line branding is important to me, and to that end I do a lot of reading & learning to ensure I’m fully aware of innovations and changes within the industry. A natural ability to explain things in layman’s terms serves me well when passing on these tips to my list of clients from many different countries!
But life’s not just about work is it? Being from South Africa obviously I follow the main Rugby & Cricket events (a bit stressful when England and South Africa are going head to head), although my own personal preference for exercise is the slightly less taxing Iyengar Yoga, and 2-mile walks every other day I’m an avid reader, when I get the time – biographies and autobiographies, history, science, novels, self-development are all in the mix I enjoy. I also “collect ” quotes that resonate with me
I love to travel back to South Africa and catch up with my parents, my siblings and their families, and friends, whenever my busy schedule gives me space. Although I’m happily settled in the UK, I take the opportunity as often as I can to travel back to visit my family and friends. Being one of 4 means there’s a lot of catching up and chatting when we all get together! It’s a standing joke in our family that when I decided to move over to the UK one of my reasons was because my brothers and sister had already decamped over here, but over time they’ve all taken the decision to move back – so now I’m again travelling long distance to see them!
It’s also a great excuse to indulge another of my passions – taking time whilst I’m there to go on safari and photograph wildlife in the most stunning surroundings.
That’s what running your own business is all about in my book – working hard, delivering quality and reaping the rewards with time out to do what you want and share it with the people you love. It’s a great life!
Let me know how I can help you with getting your business into the 21st century!
To your business success,
Tracey Rissik B.Sc.
